Dress graveyard

This morning I woke up and was absolutely horrified. The colours had run on one of my favourite dresses... Panicking I headed out and bought a colour run remover which ended up ruining the dress even more... thus assigning my dress to the scrapheap... I in all honesty feel like crying... I know it's just a dress, but I love dresses. They mean so much to me... LUCKILY Modcloth still sell the dress, so bought it again and another dress to cheer myself up... either way still annoyed as well... it's money gone and I am student...

So today I decided to go for a golden glow. I wore a dress that I bought from Traffic People in the Christmas sales but had yet to wear, and I bought some material from John Lewis to make into sash..... teamed it with a cardigan and pumps....

I am rather fond of the pretty lining at the bottom of the skirt. Definately gives the dress character... oh and btw I used a safety pin on the chest part to preserve my modesty :-)

I love the two colours against each other, plus being of the same material type, bonus!

When I was walking down the stairs the skirt would billow up around me, like when Monroe stepped on that grate...

This sash was actually a bit of material I found in the remenants bin in John Lewis... hence why it's frayed a bit... need to sew it...

Hey, so I would love to hear your thoughts, and ideas for improvement.... also check out my Etsy at My Etsy

Coffee time!

I always wear socks under my tights. For two reasons, one, it keeps my feet warm(er) and two, my feet fit the shoes better.

So for the past few days I have been using what is called an emergency pair of tights (such a great idea, cheap pairs of tights which come in individual wrappers which you keep with you in a bag), as I ran out of the ones I usually wear. As such, been having to wear boots for the past few days or jeans as they are very thin and see through... my socks showed up like the red light at a set of traffic lights.

Today I decided to go for a rather brown feel... as you can see from my photos. I took the flowers that came with the dress off, and attached them to a scarf I bought, and wrapped that around my waist to give more definition.... (and hide the fact the dress is way too big)

Dress: Modcloth
Hat: Ardene
Boots: New Look
Cardigan: New Look

Purple Saturday

So I never plan what I am going to wear (contrary to popular belief), generally make it up on the spot. Today I decided to wear a dress I hadn't worn in a while as it is rather flimsy, and well any gust of wind....... Given that I have no more black tights, I had of course choose from the three other colours I have, and naturally went with the purple. I then choose to wear a cute little flower hair accessory (can be bought through my Etsy shop) as I didn't want to wear a hat.. Although I wish I had as it did rain.. typical! I've indulged in a new hair product! It's from the Herbal Essences range and is called Tousle Me Softly, Soft Waves Intensive mask... shall tell you all how it goes another time! Anyways, the dress is from New Look, the boots New look, the tights Primark, and the Hair accessory Prettylittletitch. Would love to hear what you think, so please comment and I shall get back to you :-)

Fairy

So today I recieved a new dress in the post, from a wonderful woman that I found on Etsy, check out her shop here: jennifer lily designs

I felt soo much like a fairy when I put it on, and I love the texture and colour and pattern of the dress, very girly and cute. This is the dress I bought: My dress

I teamed it with a sash as it was slightly too big (she altered it for me, but I should of been more specific than, I'm a size 6,when in reality, I'm closer to a 4 (US 0)).

Anyways I teamed it with one of my hairbands that I make, and can be bought at Pretty Little Titch boutique

Also, I got some cute little earring from Accessorize in their sale which aren't too obvious in the photos but consist of feather and butterflies.

Would love to hear your feedback on how I can improve this outfit.. I'm not too crazy about the sash, but given that I am off to Scotland today I don't have time to run to the shops and buy something better....

Attack of the cold

I've been debating all day whether to write this post or not. But I felt that if I didn't, I'd be lying to myself. I have a really bad cold, and it probably hasn't helped that I have been wearing dresses, so today I felt I had to give in, and layer up. May not be massively stylish but it is indeed practical!

I got up a bit late with a foggy head, and so decided I would let my hair be wild, and so just put a hat on it, to hide most of it :-)

The hat I got in Amsterdam last year, the scarf is from Primark, the shoes New Look, the jumper.... well I got that somewhere in the Lake District many years ago.

Herman!

So I received Herman today. I initially thought I was being passed a bottle of sick.. and wondered what I had done to deserve this. Turns out I was passed Herman.

Herman is alive in the sense that there is yeast in him and I was given him by my wonderful friend Caz. The idea is, you grow him for 10 days, then split the mixture into 5, keep one part for yourself and give the other 4 parts to friends. Then you bake your part, and your friends then grow their own little Herman. Currently the Herman I am in possession of, is F3 generation, and have been instructed that at all costs he must survive.

This friendship cake is damn kool for an idea, and I shall share with you all the instructions that my friend gave me for nurturing him:  Herman Recipe

Check him out, he is wonderful. My baby is currently in a bowl on my bookcase!

About to be hit by a deer

So today there was snow... well it snowed on Saturday and through the night on Sunday...except on Sunday, I woke up and started some work at 8am, and stopped at 6pm... or rather gave up.... so never got to enjoy it... so these pictures were taken when I first stepped out into the snow (having waterproofed my boots of course!).

I imagine I would of taken some more decent pictures had my parents not been staring at me through the kitchen window wondering what I was doing....

This dress is one of my favourites at the moment, it is naturally from Modcloth, and is called the Old Fashioned Romance Dress . As my pictures don't do justice to this dress I have included a link for you all to gawp lovingly at it.

I teamed it with a trapper hat... it's actually a guy's hat that I picked up in Primark, but I wanted it, and so bought it (obviously)...teamed with with a coat from H&M and of course my New Look boots... I also had to cover it with a shrug (again from New Look) as I had adjusted the dress myself to fit me better and well my sewing sucks.. so needed to cover up my unslightly work!

Walking to the train station wasn't that fun, it was very icy and I literally took baby steps all the way... so glad the train was delayed

Theatre Troubles

So I went to the theatre and had a rather lovely time, except I managed to freeze nearly to death during the morning. As you can see from what I am wearing, it is not massively suitable for the cold, or even remotely suitable.

I watched the news before I left for university, and it said there was a broken down train, delaying trains in and out of Liverpool Street... it was only when I got to my local train station did I realise that the train was broken down on the platform that I use to catch my train from. We were advised that given the train was going nowhere for a while to find alternative routes in central London. So obviously manic call to the parents to ask to be driven in... persuaded my dad to drive me (who moaned a lot about it!) and he dropped me off.. it was only when he'd driven off did I realise I didn't have my purse and was therefore stranded. Had to wait half and hour in the freezing cold shivering like crazy, looking like I was having a fit, wondering if the chattering of my teeth would eventually grind them away, for my brother to arrive with my purse. Needless to say my feet were now ice blocks and remained that way for a good few hours....

But! it was not all in vain, I decided that what I wore was pretty decent for the theatre.. which by the way was soooo much fun... it was called Festival of the Nerds and was just amazing... check them out: festivalofthespokennerd . Definately the best tenner I have ever spent :-)

The theatre seemed like a good day to try out my new dress and received numerous compliments so I am happy.... The dress is inevitably Modcloth, the shoes New Look and the Hair Piece I got off Etsy :-)

Boho!

Well today I managed to dig out a dress that I had not worn since 2009 (surprised there were no cobwebs). Given that England is going through a cold snap at the moment, I teamed it with boots, although pretty little pumps would of been more cute. However, I do not wish to get frostbite anytime soon, and frozen feet is not kool.

The dress is actually a maxi dress that I had tailored so that it wouldn't look so ridiculous on me, except the tailor made it way too short... boo! So I had to wear a pair of shorts underneath to preserve my modesty :-)

To finish the look I teamed it with a cute little hairband that I made and can be bought from my boutique prettylittletitch

Needless to say, I was VERY cold! But I felt like a throwback to the sixties and really liked the sheer poofy sleeves, which I felt added a tough of elegance.
