Just hanging

Ahh so today I woke up and looked outside my window and noticed how everything was covered in a good layer of frost. I felt bad that if my brother was to use the car, he'd have to spend a while de-icing the windows!

Still not deterred I picked out a dress I had yet to wear and headed on into university. I paired it with some purple boots, and realised when I was standing at the train station, I was the most colourful thing on it. I like to have this image of where I walk, spring instantly blooms behind me, and flowers and colours come alive. Sad huh!? However, just because it is winter is no excuse to be all grim and look like an eskimo.... I live in London, which thankfully has it's own microclimate so it never really gets as cold as the rest of the country.. yippeee! I can wear dresses alll winter long!

Figured it would also be a neat idea to join bloglovin so that I can keep up much more easily with all my favourite blogs!

Markets!

Oh how I love markets! Particularly craft markets. However this weekend I was up in Glasgow and decided to venture back to a market that I had previously been thoroughly creeped out at. Now when I say this market sells everything, I mean it sells EVERYTHING. Saddles for horses were right next to a life size darlek which was right next to an old radio which was right next to various hoses.

So I was sooo happy when I spotted this reproduced oil painting by Degas. I recognised it immediately (Yeah I like art a wee bit), and had to buy it... and what a bargin at a tenner! I was rather proud of myself! I had to take some photos to keep me company for a while as the painting is still in Glasgow and I am back in London.....

I'll just add that I decided to wear a Modcloth dress with a Modcloth scarf combined with boots and a small cardigan.... I was also wearing ridiculously thick socks, and still my feet froze...through three layers! As the dress was way too big, I took a scarf which was of the same colour pallet and tied it around my waist and adorned it with some overlarge flowers :-). The photos were taken by Matthew Robinson!

Let's smile

Dress: Modcloth
Hat: New Look
Boots: New Look

So today I decided to accept my now black hair and rummaged through my bulging boxes for a dress which I thought would go nicely, and here is what I picked! I made sure to top it off with a cute little purple flower ( The real reason I generally have a flower in my hair is because it keeps the hair off my face due to my side partying... but shh!).

I didn't realise about the zip at the back being so obvious when I bought the dress (never bothered turning it around)and probably wouldn't off if I had. Also it has shoulder pads... and for someone who is as tiny as me, it looks rather too severe, so I am going to try and remove them somehow without ruining the dress *finger's crossed*.

The dress felt lovely wearing it, and made me have a waist like Kate Middleton (who has AMAZING style).... it felt all flowy which went well with my flowy (or rather windswept) hair!

Lazy afternoon

So I have had a busy few days, which included getting a new haircut. I hate getting my hair cut, it never turns out how I want, and I'm too scared to be like... stop screwing with my hair... alas I've come away with rather short black hair. I SPECIFICALLY said I did not want my hair to be black all over and that I like reds and browns..... clearly this did not happen as can be seen by the pictures... so I shall have to accept what I have and make do :-)

I thought I would share some photos of my lovely cotton dressing gown that I got in Forever 21.. I adore it. Given that the walls and floor of my room are black I overheat easily, so it's nice to be able to breathe a bit more in this... One picture I took came out a bit goofed up... not prizes for which one... and no I do not love lamp.

Woodland Sprite

I ventured out with my tripod today... i.e it left the boundaries of my house/garden... I decided to take pictures of what I am wearing on some fields near my house. I use to go there all the time when I was a little child... riding bikes, hanging out with friends, running....ahh the simple lives of yesturyear!

Everyone around me has runny noses, and from the pictures, East London is rather grey! I'm looking forward to springtime... then I'll fit in with the flowers, and hopefully start the new gardening seasons (I am VERY green fingered).

I made the hair accessory myself... inspired by nature and well flowers which I love..

I would be very interested if you guys could tell me what shoes (maybe even some links) of shoes that would suit... I know nothing of shoes so would LOVE your help!

Little Thoughts

So my new camera arrived, and I wanted to try it out. It's nothing fancy like an SLR (I can't be bothered to faff around with lenses/my bank account is too far red/ my arms will ache from carrying it around<< reasons I don't have one).. so I thought I would share with you what I wore! I am massively obsessed with Modcloth dresses. I feel that they embody me as a person, my style and views on how women should dress (that's feminine!). I like flowers and all things pretty and well it's safe to say Modcloth deliver!

My new boots can also be seen! I am not a huge shoe fan... I like to get by on as little as possible. I've nothing against shoes, I'd just rather not have attention drawn to my feet... afterall that requires looking down..and well London pavements are hardly the best place to show them off! So I probably only own a handful of shoes, my most expensive pair being my hiking boots... not that they'll appear anytime soon on here :-)

Gardens of Brentwood

So in summer I went to this beautiful park near Brentwood (Essex), I got to walk around in the 'sun' for hours and Matthew took a number of pictures, I thought I would share some with you. For a while this was my style: dress, hat, flower in hair, boots, handbag. I had fun for a while but realised that I really needed to revamp my image a bit.

Updo downdo

It's not often that I wear my hair up. Mainly because when I was younger, I dressed more grunge than feminine and now wish I hadn't. Looking back at photos I am soo embarrased, but at the time, I thought I was damn kool. My excuse was, I was young and stupid. I also believed that because you listened to a certain type of music, you had to dress a certain way... I grew out of that belief, but it took a while! So I thought I would share a photo of me with my hair up that was taken in Munich this summer. Let me tell you, Oktoberfest was awesome!

Damsal in Distress

Alas, I wish the year started off on a dry note, but it seems that the heavens opened a couple of days ago, and refuse to cease....and I heard on the grapevine there is apparently a drought expected in good ol'England.

Sadly, a meet up with a dear friend of mine meant that I was forced to dress more practically.. i.e no pumps because they'll be soaked through before I've taken three steps outside the house.

I originally was going to use this blog as a way to buy clothes, see what works and doesn't work as I make my foray into this world. However, this year I asked for money for a gift to be given to Oxfam to buy sheep and land for people in Africa. When I recieved thank you cards in the post from Oxfam yesturday, I realised that I was being exceedingly selfish and greedy, so I've decided to stop buying dresses at literally a rate of one a day, and try and remix stuff in my wardrobe... Which is why for the first time ever, I am wearing tights which aren't black, and have been sitting in my wardrobe for nearly two years unworn!
